I hope this photo conveys how hot it is now in Wuxi, and how it’d be best for one, who is here, to stay indoors with A/C. Twenty five years ago, the locals mostly didn’t have A/C.
Am I lazy? I hope that my consistent efforts at putting out content on the web shows I’m not; though my hastiness in putting the content maybe betrays the impression I’m trying to give.
Has the ZMAN been dead for a week? Popular as he was with his readers and listeners, the details of his death are not known, because his fandom was disperse and he lived the life of a bachelor with few family connections. I read someone say he might have died of heatstroke: he was working in the sun, and being the driven man that he obviously was, he overdid it, fatally. I suppose he exited this world in the best way: quickly and still at the height of his powers. Given the solitary nature of his life, a lingering death would have horrible. Moral of the story: we can go anytime and suddenly is the best way to do it.
I will continue with my quote videos. I’ve had some good response to them, and someone said I have the voice for such things. If only, I could monetize these efforts. That is one of the first things I’ll do in Canada. For the most part, I’ve been quoting Davila in the videos, but I will branch out to other thinkers like Simone Weil, Jose Marie Escriva and Blaise Pascal. And I will do more Chesterton and Mother Angelica.
The passing political scene. I don’t care much for what is going on in Canada. It seems a lot of Canadians have been gaslit into hating Trump instead of their real oppressors. As for Trump, I hope whatever he is doing in the Middle East works out. If he does an Iran war after saying the Iraq war was a bad thing, I’ll be terribly disappointed. Trump’s domestic agenda can’t be argued with, though it would be nice if it could precede faster as Musk is demanding. Musk on X: good; Musk with DOGE: good; Musk and subsidized Tesla: bad; Musk arguing with Trump: not so great.
